Master Nick Donato was born in the southern suburbs of Sydney, Australia. His maternal grandparents raised him for most of his early years while his mother worked two and three jobs to make ends meet. Master Nick became very close to his grandfather; to Nick, he was his best mate. Upon his grandfather's sudden death, Nick wanted to give up and became lost in grief and anger, which sent him in the wrong direction until martial arts gave him the focus and clarity to slowly pull himself out of a spiraling decline.

Master Nick's perspective on life changed as he spent 55-plus years in the combat industry. It has become his calling, as well as his education. He is now a sought-after teacher for many. Master Nick's desire has always been to share the power of martial arts with the world. Nick is a father of two, a grandfather of four, and a mentoring father figure to hundreds of all ages. It has been a journey with many pitfalls and crossroads, but the mindset of using no way as a way and the love of martial arts have brought him to a peaceful, fulfilling place in life on his journey thus far.
